Friday walk through Mahane Yehuda market in Jerusalem

if you would like to meet a real people go to the local market. i have no idea who said this (possible no one) but i love this idea and use it from time to time. one of my favorite open air markets here in Israel always was and will remain Mahane Yehuda market located in Jerusalem. the best day to visit it is Friday, when people buy products for the Shabbat dinner, next week or just because everything is very cheap this day. i love to feel this extreme mix of absolutely different people – in religion, in age, in look. love for different music and food or divergences in a political convictions don’t make us different at market. market is like beach – minimum of clothes and expensive jewelry makes us somehow equal.
this day i used two cameras – Horizon202 panoramic film when i started this walk. when i finished the whole 35mm film of crowded, busy longography frames, i moved to a digital with 35mm lens attached. the Ilford film that exposed this day is already developed and one day i will post the whole roll.

enjoy the market madness…

  1. My father-in-law photographed it in color. You definitely notice different things in b&w. The baby’s expression
