do not delete your pictures iv

and again a few new/old snaps and some words about imperfection in photography and UNFORTUNATE images. of course i delete. no doubts i blame myself after this, but mostly i’m trying to bring home everything and to save these files to the special folder. sometimes i love these moments much more than other successfully shooted, “staged”, focused and framed. sometimes i don’t like everything what i shoot. sometimes i need a few days or even weeks or months to “approve” the results. everything is acceptable for me.

enjoy the moments and you’re welcome to tell me what your attitude to UNFORTUNATE and imperfect images !!

  1. I must admit I adore imperfection in images. Some might want it to become to perfect that it only become too overdone, with that it comes close to fake. But that is just my humble opinion. If it comes to Unfortunate.. hmm I think the unfortunate spotted in these images are the learning steps for the unfortunate subjects catched in an image.. On Dutch we say: “We leren door vallen en opstaan.” That’s just part of the sport/life/living is it?

  2. Wow, your imperfect images rock Victor, my favs are 5 and 7 – great moments! I delete too, sure. When i start editing, i stick to the rule that if a photo doesn’t jump at me or doesn’t catch my attention i tend to delete. Still i have a large catalogue of unposted images. I do go back to those and sometimes get a surprise 🙂 Today i might not like it, in 3 months i might it interesting

  3. This is great to read. Very interesting. My preferred ones here are 2, 4, and 5. Just earlier today I was re-reading Eric Kim’s article about letting your shots ‘marinate’…and he says never delete your images. I’ve been surprised myself with past images that I at first ignored…. Unfortunately, however, until recently I was in the practice of deleting shots…. Well, I look forward to more of your shots. Cheers.

    1. Thank you very much for the kind words ! In additional to “never delete” should be practice of slow shooting – less clicks, less Terra bites to review after 😉

  4. Fabulous and dynamic shots Victor! And very good advice which I have been adhering to since I was a kid interested in photography. I could never get rid of my prints, even the bad ones back then, and now, I never delete photos in the digital age. Sometimes I go back and find something in them that I didn’t see before. Great post, as always!

  5. I go through these and I have no idea why you see them as imperfect… these are all keepers, absolutely great photos of moments caught on the fly…

  6. Wow, you have been very busy Victor! I like this series too, I have a personal set which I call “My Photo Fails” which has a similar theme. Maybe I’ll post them sometime. Excellent work, as always!
