Sudden night shower in TelAviv with Asahi 50mm part-i

season changes bring us changes in our everyday routine. i love changes, especially of weather conditions, when i can feel something different without to go to the far and exotic country. it’s good for me in both – psychological and photography oriented terms – i’m waiting for something extraordinary like knee-deep snow, thick like porridge fog or ok-ok – this super heavy shower that comes without warning.

I was on the way to a Rock’n’Roll live performance in the Southern TelAviv and even found very nice free parking, when the heavenly pails turned over all at once. i had the only Asahi 50mm M42 old manual lens and was curious what possibly to do with old/new combination when this hell is happening around me. of course i immediately denied freelensing, but also was unable to use umbrella because of the manual focusing of Asahi.

  1. these are fantastic, Victor…you’ve managed to capture rain in the streets both raw and poetic at the same time…
so you were not using an umbrella? how did you keep the camera and yourself dry?

  2. Fantastic series! I love the dramatic mood you caught in each image. Shooting at night in the rain can be therapeutic. The last time I shot in the rain at night, I used the awnings from the storefronts for cover. It was fun trying to create an image from a restrictive vantage point. Keep up the great work!

  3. Hey Victor, I love rainy nights and I love these images!! Incredible mood and feel to all of these. That first one is quite stunning!

    1. Thank you Sam big appreciation ! I felt very high and became wet during this night “adventure” and hope to do it again – to be in right time at right place is not always possible 😉
