Athens 2025 – My heart remained there – part i.

Until this week, I hadn’t traveled outside my country for 5.5 years. How did I manage this, you ask? Well, it was 2020 with the Covid hysteria limitations, after pandemic regulations, in which I had no desire to take part. Crazy time at work. October7, with the Hamas invasion to the Southern parts of the country. The war with almost all “neighbors” started. Even crazier crazy times at work due to a shortage of labor. You will say that these are just excuses and searching for reasons. I don’t know, maybe you’re right, because I never was too frequent in my trips out of the country. 1-2 times a year, no more often.

Last week I broke this bad habit and visited a city I had dreamed of visiting for years. That’s really strange why i never was there before. It’s just two hours of flight. There are plenty of different flights companies, flying back and forth every day. The weather is very similar to our weather maybe less hot. Besides, the Mediterranean mentality of the Greeks is to some extent close to the mentality of my neighbors, well, or some of them.

This time, due to the different reasons, I took quite a few photos, or rather, several dozen photographs. There aren’t many captured moments I’m proud of, but I think it’s enough for a few blog posts. I loved this wonderful city, full of well preserved old traditions. My heart remained there, exactly as i felt many years ago, when traveled to Barcelona.

5 days flew by too quickly and just whetted my appetite to visit this city and its surroundings again. I’m seriosly thinking about and looking for options for cooperation with local residents for photography.

  1. Great images. You are most fortunate to be able to travel easily to Athens for just 5 days. From Australia, the costs would be prohibitive for me. And, these days, our advancing years complicate travel for my wife and I anyway – even within our own country. So, being able to enjoy your images and those of others traveling to various countries is wonderful.

    1. Thank you Brian for the kind words. You’re right – every destination for you is a long flight. Not easy to fly 14 hours in each direction for some short stay. Take care Brian !

    1. Indeed their traditions you can see everywhere. To preserve the city and not to build skyscrapers, to prepare good Greek coffee and not only use the fast Expresso.machines. To preserve the language. And many many more. I stayed very close to the touristy center, but in the local neighborhood. So the bars and pubs in the streets around my living place were empty of tourists ;-))

        1. Actually there is no such thing as Greek coffee. But they can’t say Turkish coffee. So just call it Greek. But finally they both don’t grow any kind of coffee ;-)) You can buy any black coffee and cook it – whatever name, it will be tasty 😉 i do it with the black coffee i buy in Jerusalem. I just add a little bit of cardamom

  3. Ohh Victor these are magically poetic ! I am sorry i had missed notifications as you can imagine i was in pain with bone fractures 😖 I am actually surprised to see these Oh you flew?! Yes Greece are in my bucket list but first Jerusalem ❣️🙋🏻‍♀️ shalom shalom
    Wonderful!,

    1. Highly recommended to visit one day. The locals are very nice and friendly, somehow remind me of my country people – very open even sometimes too noisy ;-))
Im planning now to go there again for the deeper exploring
Thank you for the kind words.
