Snapshots from the car – my purposeless photography (part i).

Today I would like to present to you, dear visitors, my new personal project, which I started photographing spontaneously in the far 2018. This method of taking images gained its organic momentum only in 2020, during the “pandemic” days, and now become my usual almost daily snapshots process. I photographed all these images from the windows of my car during traffic jams, stormy days and nights, on empty and packed roads, at red traffic lights, and just when I stopped my car when recognized something click-worthable, if it can be described that way.

Documenting the life around me was always my favorite “genre” of photography. Life on the road is never an exclusion. Having my tiny Ricoh GR with me everywhere immediately ready for the fast and dirty documentation. Most of the images in this series are purposeless. Not following some specific tangible subject and not too drawn to contemplation of the photographic object. But the process itself is interesting and attractive especially these days when i have no time for dedicated photography.

Well, this series is not “artistic” in any term of perfection in photography. I’m not a big fan of the triangle theory of composition and never even tried to imagine these triangles during shooting and after this in the minimalistic Lightroom post-production. All the talks about the golden triangle rules and other principles of the frame organization rules, always made me sick. The rule of thirds, the rule of space, the rule of odds, and other strange techniques should be they must be understood and used in the subconscious, otherwise, the photography process becomes a nightmare (well at least for me). Of course, geometry is always been one of my preferred pillars of aesthetics understood and expressed by the third eye.

Clarity isn’t what photography is about, said Daido Moriyama.

    1. Hi friend. You said this very right. I m here with the goal to learn the culture and traditions of other countries from the photo stories of their blogs. It’s a big benefit of the social media and the internet in the whole role.

  1. I like this premise (I call it drive by shooting 🙂 ) and these shots are a window on your world. I love the dog in the car next to you and the people shots. The buildings are cool too. More please 🙂

    1. Such a pleasure to see that you feel these images in this way. Much more is coming, some taken images are absolutely surprising. Stay tuned please and a huge thank you for the kind words 😉
