Why I love night photography, and why you should too (part viii).

I decided to publish this post today absolutely spontaneously. First of all – i really love night photography, as well as I like walking in the darkness and exploring the night streets. Sometimes the dark streets bring my these small surprises. Sometimes they don’t really enjoy to show me their gems. Everything is about my personal vibes – how open my perception is to seeing this hidden food for my camera in the darkness.

If you haven’t done it yet – please check my recently made photo slide show. These photographs of my good friend Nomi i photographed with both Ricoh GRii and the 15 years old old work-horse Canon 5d mkii cameras during the night session in the white dunes. Naomi is amazing Fire Art artist. take a look and preferably on large monitors, please.

And, additionally, my last photozine “Isolated in 2020″” is still available on the Blurb store. I photographed the images in the far 2020, during the second (or third) massive isolation due to the only known by our government methods to combat the pandemic. It was a Holidays time and our offices were closed, so the only thing I had to do was staying at home and walking around my village and taking images.

  1. Love these night shots Victor, and I did watch the video on the big screen! 🙂 Looks like she got a nasty burn on her thigh half way through? Unless it was just a mark made by the pole. Anway, good work by you both, left a comment on the vid.
Were your night shot on film?

    1. This time it was just a black mark but sometimes her shows are ending with less nice marks. Thank you for taking a look !
All these night shots were taken in Telaviv in the old center and Southern area downtown. Today i will go again to explore the street and maybe to find new hidden alleys. Sometimes I’m doing this on my way to the night shows and always on my way after these shows and events. And usually I’m parking my car very far from these music venues ;-)))

        1. thank you for your interest. i always use tags to my posts with the names of cameras, emulsions and also chemicals i use for this specific roll developing process. Just trying to write less about the lasts in the posts due to not really related to photography info (just my filling). I used Kentmere 400 for this series. Kentmere and ilford HP5 and FP4 are my favorite emulsions. As well i like the recently found Ilfotec HC developer which fits perfectly Ilford films.

  2. Nice work, Victor! I look forward to your new posts. I’m currently shooting a lot of film on my Voigtlander Bessa R. I haven’t really taken any night shots with it, but now I want to try it out.

    1. Thank you Jeff. Using film during the low light conditions is a real challenge, but it’s very joyful.. Exploring city areas for the available light and just interesting objects for shooting with flash is an adventure. I don’t remember if there is a built-in flash in your Bessa.

  3. Hi Victor, I too love night photography. This is partly from necessity since a) I am not a morning person b) I don’t like harsh afternoon light; and c) my workload is high and I often leave the office at late hours. The light from natural and man-made sources and the reflections they create in windows and pools or bodies of water get my juices flowing. I also like that at night the pace of life is slower and it is easier to be discrete. I appreciate very much your taking an interest in my blog. I do not have a large following of the blog which has turned out to be a diary of life.
    Kind regards, Louis.

    1. Thank you for the kind words Louis !
all these reasons are great reasons to love night photography and i really love all these. Plus, at night all the regular less interesting places get some new textures and shapes. So, night photography walks may be endless 😉
I will check your blog deeper.
      Take care
      Victor.
