Snow In Jerusalem – The White City Exploration – Part I.
This “snowfall” was predicted by the weather forecast and I was equipped and ready to drive to Jerusalem after the workday in the evening. But. Something goes wrong, I was too tired for this adventure, and as I saw in the live cameras from Jerusalem and the roads around, it was just raining, and were no signs of snow. Later at night, the roads to Jerusalem were closed, the massive snowfall started, and I got definitely that I missed the chance.
The next moment I was watching the live cameras on the roads leading to Jerusalem, and when I saw that the traffic started, I went on the road immediately.
Sure one the next day it was very different and not too powerful like it was during the night of the snowy storm. The snow was mixed with water and melting, but still, looked interesting and unusual. Everything reminded me of “my previous adventure”
I visited some forests in the mountains around the city and close to the evening arrived at the Light rail station, where I parked my car and went to explore the streets of the outskirts and Yad Va Shem museum.
Then I moved to the central part of the city and found a little bit less snow but much more water. The streets were shining like diamonds. A little later it started to rain and I used my small umbrella with the goal to save the camera dry and clean.

That muck has a way of saturating even water proof boots. I don’t think of snow and Jerusalem as two things that intersect with any frequency.

I didn’t know it snows in Jerusalem. I always thought it is a hot, hot city…
you’re right – the city is very hot in terms of temperature and in terms of social and a.political life. bit winters are very cold here ecpecially at nights. But also summer nights are very different from the usual hot nights of Israel – windy and chilly here.
Great photos as always, looks horrible slushy snow soon to disappear again.
It stayed only day. i was there on the next say and everything was jist wet because of the nonstop rain.

Thank you Jan. The snow in Jerusalem is very rare natural phenomenon. Its why i always trying to be there then the snowfall is happening.

Yes very rare. Especially in these amounts. Was messy and wet so i worried a little bit about my cameras – i walked with this Ricoh GRii and with film camera.
