Taken with the Ricoh GRii pocket monster.

Moments of life around me captured with the Ricoh GRii.

My way to this small digital pocket camera was around two years old. I was absolutely happy with my every day for everything 5dMKii camera, that I always had with me in my small bag. Firstly with the 50mm 1.4 attached and after all with 35mm Sigma 1.4 – a little bit bigger and heavier, but who carries – I always was happy with this combination. Since I got the tiny film shutter Ricoh GR1s, I discovered that this “ugly” simple in use and in terms of “only-one-lens-available” camera has a few younger digital sisters.

When the long exploration started, I discovered that my favorite street and life photographer used and still use the Ricoh family cameras. It was a period when I decided to get me something smaller in size than my beloved 5dmkii – I wanted some pocket camera. Because photography wasn’t my daily job, I felt too tired to keep this FF camera everywhere with me, and always to care about the additional bag which I carried everywhere with me and the endless attention and caring eyes on this bag.

Do you want to ask me why I thought for so long? Well, there was one weighty reason – the lack of a viewfinder.
I have never used a builtin camera screen for photography before and worried about how difficult-uncomfortable it will be.

I use my Ricoh GRii already 3 years. I do all my regular genres of photography with this small camera – Band Photography, Action-Sport, Behind the Scenes for movies, Portraits, Street Photography, and the most important for me – LIFE photography personal projects. These days when I prepare myself for the travel, I have no trouble with “what camera to take with me” doubts – I just take two Ricoh sisters (or brothers) – my lovely Ricoh GR family – GRii and GR1s.

I always prefer black and white :
