Colorful Jerusalem during Covid-19 – night walk in the city center.

These images I photographed in a nightmare for all of us 2000. From time to time between the lockdowns, I dropped there for something different from the already “regular” anti-corrupted PM and his cabinet protests. During the 9 months of these protests, my attitude to Jerusalem was changed completely. From the lovely and friendly for day and night walks the city in my feelings became politically strained, aggressive, and dangerous at nights. I know (and really hope) that everything was in my head and a broken imagination. Nothing really changed – this city always was the political scene of the country, not the celebrating around-the-clock TelAviv.

Well, i wanted to talk less about the political situation and more about people. Many of us mistakenly call the physical isolation, that we got as a result of the struggle with the “pandemic”, social isolation. This term is wrong and was created and massively pushed by the fake news media. These days we connected as never with our smartphones, computers, social networks, zoom, teams, and regular messaging applications. But the physical contact is much more important for all of us is what we lost.

We have to stop waiting for the “old normal” – life will never be the same as it was before the “new normal” started changing our lives. And even this “new normal” sounds very bad, we have to find a creative way to continue changing the way or our point of view to our life. Learning new, different things and being ready for even a worse situation, that is worse only in comparison with the “old normal” – it just different from what is we are regular, no more.

Well, now a little bit of photography – the main reason why I’m here and apparently what is most the visitors are looking for in my blog posts. Today I decided to make my post colorful. To show the streets of Jerusalem as they are.

  1. Colourful Jerusalem life. Not sure if it’s colourful as much in everyones thoughts and feelings for the past 12 months. “Social distancing/isolation” is a funny and an absurd term, like you said – it’s the physical distancing and the one that tears us apart and the hardest part of it all. THEY are not concerned about the amount of deaths and incidents due to depression and anxiety…
The new normal is scarier than ever, we just can not allow our governments decide our future, People must decide!

    1. Yes, the only real and vibrant colors I saw during this year were the colors of the requisites of the protesters at Balfour.
Yesterday the bars and restaurants were opened and TelAviv has crowded again. People ready to play this stupid game forever – “closed” – they go, “open” – they come. And most of them don’t ask the question – why is this shit happening to us. :-))) there is food in the feeders – that’s what’s important.

  2. Hello Victor! I saw the notifications of your new blog.. I wanted to have a look ASAP but I was out . Okay here I go Victor. These are much differnet than your normal work that’s because of the colors. The atmospheres are brighten but mix of loneliness.. Waiting for the customers , an empty tables .. The same here .. We’re still cold but restraints are open indoor for 25% of sitting. So much struggling.. Lots of closed abandoned buildings .. What’s next? There was big big lines for vaccines. I am still not sure whether if I am going to get vaccine or no. we shall see.
Over all I am sort of pleased to see these photo. It’s the same here.
Thank you for your great work as always!
