One week before the Coronavirus hysteria – Jerusalem in black and white.

With this post I continue the previous photo story about my visit in Jerusalem just a short time before travel visits were closed, before the partial shut down of the whole country, before the numbers of coronavirus began to grow very harshly and fast. Right now from the current view of the progression of the worldwide situation, I think back about these days with some feeling of nostalgia. The freedom of doing is visible and understood fully only when we lost this freedom of doing. but enough about that.

I have a lot of different photographed materials to categorise and to post. Both analog and digital. Plus, finally, I found some good publishing platform to start making my zines. Of course black and white photography zines. A few years ago i “published” two books at Blurb, but the prices where too high and the finishing options were too limited, of course, the magazine feature still not been then.

BTW. With all the worldwide problems, my philosophical questions “why I’m taking photographs and what the hell do I need it” became irrelevant.

  1. Nice work, great series Victor.
I have the same feeling about Blurb, i only made one book there but its way too expensive eventhough the quality is very good.
I also tried a book with SAAL Digital and it was ok, i had 50% off voucher or something like this. Of course the best way is to make the zines by yourself but if there’s no right material at disposal then its hard…
Which platform are you trying at the moment?

    1. Thank you Yuri for taking a look and for the kind words.
Yes Blurb was expensive and the look of the finishing was different for different types of books and covers. I saw that now they also added the Magazine option and its really less expensive but will compare the price more serious when i will have some time to breathe ;-).
I saw some blog by Daniel Milnor with very high recommendation to try MagCloud application.
Hope to hear from you about your finds please.

      1. Thanks for your reply, i need to check out Magcloud too. A few years back I bought a zine from Josh White photo collective and the some images were pixilated and some had great quality, need to verify.
I was recommended to try Mixam , the UK company…
Hope you find what you need
