Mountains of Eilat – empty, dramatic and captivating.

i tried to write a few times but deleted the written text because not a single word can explain the feeling of being in the middle of the empty from sounds and voices place. maybe the only wind, but this evening was windless… maybe gliding in the high sky birds, but I did not see any… i think that this is the reason why the mountains like to repeat a few times what we said…said…said…
in the images at the bottom part of this post – some moments with my co-walker Danny, my shadow fixed forever unto the rock and small group of tourists at the top of Yoash Mountain from which “one can see the entire Eilat Gulf all the way to the Sinai mountains, and the borders of four countries: Israel, Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia” (info taken from the “http://www.redseaeilat.com/” site). the wire entanglement is the part of the border area between Israel and Egypt and this concrete structure from which Danny and his shadow take pictures is the real fortification with the hole for firing… hope we will use it in future only for photography.

enjoy the forms of mountains:

  1. A wonderful series… The fourth picture in particular has a special magnificence to me. Am I right in thinking these were taken without a tripod? Do you have any recommendations for shooting desert landscapes? Forgive me for asking, but it is something I have been having difficulty with!

    1. Hey Amy ! Thank you for coming here and so kind words. As usual i don’t use tripod for the landscape photography. Because of the static high ISO ( 1600 in all images of this set – th light was low and i have no problem with the high ISO numbers and additional grainy effect) so i can use low apperture – f8 in all these images, so the shutter speed is the only variable in this set and it always higher then 35 ( it was 35mm prime lens) Hope this can help you and I’m here for every your question Amy !

  2. Fantastic set Victor! Well selected set, great range of tones. I loved the b&w landscapes and my favorite, the man with a camera and shadow, brilliant shot!
