Kodacolor 200 c-41 film in black and white chemicals.

I wanted to start this post the same way as i started the previous one from April 5, 2017, I read this old post and decided to start this post in a different manner – I did it again, the same mistake as I did the previous time. I just finished all black and white roles I had in my fridge and due to the lockdown decided to develop one of the color rolls with the technique I used already a few times.

I had no idea what I photographed on this film, lately I found many low light condition scenes I took during the GO Skateboarding day at the local extreme sports ramp. The Kodacolor 200 was already in my camera with the only few exposed frames, so I found myself again this uncomfortable situation when I can’t change the ISO of the film that already in the middle but I want to continue shooting. I remember that I used the built-in flash, but the distance was too long and this flash is too weak.

And i got these negatives. Bcos of the high brownish tones first my reaction was that they are absolutely empty, but I decided to scan them just for double-check. The part of the film I exposed before the night time I want to publish today. About the skate park action images, I have to decide. I love the energy I captured, but not the quality I got in these frames with the jumping skaters. I miss some better details and the visible emotions on their faces.

From another side – why do we use film, and film cameras, and this “ancient” method to get our images out of the celluloid, and making our life difficult with all the Sunny 16 rules and +- compensations. Expired, pushed, overdeveloped and scratched. Seems like the lake of perfection is an integral part of all this craziness.
I think that already wrote about many times.

And the boring technical part.
Kodak Kodacolor 200 film (they also call it Colorplus). Ricoh GR1s pocket camera and Rodinal developer diluted 1+100. I used the one-hour semi-stand developing process with 10 turns after 30 min of standing.

  1. As you must know by now: I am your greatest FAN!! Yes, the Virus problems show how beautiful the world is without constant noise, with clean air and far, far fewer cars , planes and trains and people working from home. Might this be a watershed moment..but I fear few notice the difference.

    1. Hey Paula! I’m so excited to read your kind words! thank you very much you’re very kind!
About the watershed moment – I really agree with you and put my everyday attention at the same things – the air, the traffic jams, the lack of the noise of thousands of planes in the sky. People around me started to observe and to learn new things which they planned, hoped and dreamed to learn. Attention and care to each other. As I understand these days – there are no fights and wars in Breaking news (hope that this is the situation, but not the only lack of interest of the media to this topic).
We have been exaggerated a long time ago when all the smartphones business started – all the worldwide tourism with the goal to take a few selfies in exotic places. To put another story to Instagram and to do shopping in Paris/London/NYC/Wherever.
But, I think that you’re right – not sure that people do see things in the same way as we see them.
