night walks as a kind of photo-meditation

this night set is a result of my night walks in the last two months. i love the dark part of a days for walks, sometimes long, sometimes short. from time to time i just stop my car at the roadside, when something attracts my eyes. in most cases spots of light, sometimes interesting geometry created by shadows. my monotone steps sound like metronome beats in the silence of the night music, occasionally interrupted with my camera shutter. sometimes i return home without any catch but always calm and relaxed.

enjoy my night clicks :

  1. Victor, you have such an amazing eye… captivating night street scenes, in your captures the cinematic meets the documentary, great work, as always!!

  2. Third one is wonderful. Light and darkness. Vertical, horizontal and diagonal, lines are beautiful as well as composition. I love it!

  3. I just got a Canon A-1 and plan to use it in NYC at night. I hope I get some good results haha. Do you have any tips or advice when shooting with film at night?

    1. I shoot a lot in low light comditions especially at night. A few tips – probably not a secrets but maybe will help – looks for a spots of light, i use exposire conpensation on my Ricoh – so two stops of additional compensatio makes 400ISO film 1600ISO so no need to push it. I’ll happy to see the results ! Good luck !

      1. thank you for your advice! The photography place I got it from said the similar thing to me to, if I use a 400 iso film I should put my iso at 800 and use the lights within the city. Thanks again for the confidence boost! I should have some images in about 2/3 weeks (by the time I travel and come back) 😀

  4. Love these posts…verry inspiring…It just makes my triggerfinger itch…i’m gonna ceep following your work
