Fomapan 400 exposed with medium format Holga camera part XII.

Hello here. I have a lot to show, but today decided to post something that I wasn’t posted since May 20, 2021. It was the last time when I published a series of frames from “roll number 11”, exposed with Holga, and developed in the Rodinal semi-stand process. For a long time, it was the only Fomapan 400, but recently I used this combination also Fomapan 100 and Bergger 400 as well. Not everything is already scanned but will be finished during the next few weeks. I’m trying to scan weekly now, due to my found of the huge amount of the still unscanned rolls.

The number of the waiting queue scared me. The instant thoughts, that I and the entire world will never see the images and photographed moments, made me restless. A few times I woke up in the middle of the night and I thought about it. But the mornings always bring me the needed relaxation and found for me the solutions – I love the process of taking pictures, I love these moments of developing (when it’s about analog), I love to see the beauty negatives and to stare at the slow gradual appearance of the image during the scanning process. What’s else? These already matter. The only step I’m dreaming to add to the entire process is the darkroom printing process. And again as usual I say to myself – one day it will happen.

This series is relatively short. The rest of this roll wasn’t worth even scanning procedure. But i believe in quality and not in quantity, so less is always more.

Now, a few words about something different. A few days ago I read on FB a hysterical post about Google Lens and how dangerous this application should be, with the ability to disseminate secret information about each of us, by identification of our faces and looking for everything about us through our portraits available here and there on the NET. I took one of my recent portraits and asked Lens to find some info, and got NOTHING about me from my current face. I was overjoyed and at the same time saddened. Well, at least, when I write my name in a Google search, the amount of photographs appearing everywhere is huge. And it’s very interesting, but explain that Google Lens is more about finding some similar object to the one appearing in the uploaded image. I’m sure, it’s possible to find similar faces, but this did not happen in my case, thank you Internet for keeping quiet.

Next week I think to experiment with this new animal from the META – Threads application. I have some resistance against it and already asked photographers on Twitter to share their experiences about. But not many tried this application, and those who opened accounts were not happy with what they saw. I hate this idea, I think that o will try it, just for a few days. Just to see what it can bring in terms of photography. (well I am still not sure, if I really will do this).

        1. Thank you very much. I do this sometimes with my Ricoh and the built-in function, as well with some of my film cameras also allowing me to do it. But not with software. I don’t use Photoshop. But scanning the double exposure technique sounds interesting to me 😉

  1. Hiya, Victor… great photos as usual. I was wondering if we’d hear from you soon.

Crazy timing on this: I scheduled my double-exposure posts for next week.

    1. Thank you Matt. glad to hear from you. I was too busy at work and had a few events last week, so the sleepless night doesn’t really help the writing 😉 Will wait for your double exposures post !

      1. I’ve also been very busy this summer, and I’ve been combating that by scheduling posts as far out as I can so I can focus on the really important stuff…

Always happy to look at your photos.

  2. My daughter used double negatives layering in the darkroom enlarger negative holder. New York skyline background on one film series of 36 exposures with her friend in Gothic attire on the other series 36 exposures. It looked like her friend’s image was projected onto the buildings. I like your skills here. Fantastic captures. All the best.

    1. Wow this sounds very interesting, this technique with the darkroom enlarger. I still have no dark room to try this, but I am able to use some cameras allowing me multiple exposures. And Holga is the most simple one. Thank you for the kind words.

  3. Victor your work with the Holga has always impressed me. The shots are very creative and I must say you are a true artist!
