Night walk through Mahane Yehuda market in Jerusalem

night walk through Mahane Yehuda market in Jerusalem

actually it wasn’t at night but the cold wind, wet ground and early fallen on us darkness created such impression. was crowded and loudly as it should be at the east market. after some time of using 35mm lens, this evening i attached my fav 50mm, but felt a little bit limited in space and environment, so in a few shoots I was forced to take a step back with a goal to get less cropped frame.

enjoy the walk :

  1. I feel like I’m watching an episode of life and waiting for the second part in the series. Each image has its own story that still connects as a whole. i’m learning a lot from what you share, thank you!

    1. thank you Ani ! i’ll bring more – have some interesting from the street market and street fest shooted in Haifa in December. one of my previous posts about Hag Hahagim is from this place and i have to continue this .

  2. Absolutely loved this series. No way it was day time?!? That looks like any city street at night. Wonderful compositions. Smoking man, the couple with the umbrella…. love them.

  3. great set. the portrait of the smoking man is exceptional. lovely. it’s even better, because i saw you how you took them and i was on your side. good memories. unfortunately the roll i took was underexposed completely. only two frames i was able to save 🙁 but that’s the advanture of taking film, isn’t it?

    1. Yes advanture you’re right. I’m still dont feel too sure myself in the extreme light situations with film. Thank you for the kind words Trill.

  4. i understand. i obviously mesaured wrongly or took the wrong aperture accidently this evening. don’t know. the two rolls in tel aviv came out nicely as you already saw on tumbl.

  5. The photo stark contrast is beautiful of the life in Jerusalem. It leaves a feeling of wanting to reach in to see clearly of what it is all about. Thank you for sharing.

    1. Defenitely place to visit and to stay for some time. Very different in contrasts and people. Sometimes very modern and mostly very traditional and religious. Thank you for taking a look and very kind words

  6. Victor- I am so surprised that this is daytime before a storm. It looks just like nighttime. I especially wanted to look at these wonderful photos again because I have been wanting to try some night shots. Your photos here are incredible. Love the relaxed but cool smoker, the lovely watchdog and the store worker sitting at watch for action in a chair out in the cold, my favorite might be the picture in which you cropped perfectly so it appears that the arm is by itself in among the goods !!! Ha! I enjoy your work very much . I am going to try some night stuff too! Thank you for always inspiring me !

  7. Absolutely stunning nightshots, Victor! What a beautiful walk and I am happy I could take part in it.
If you ask me for my favorite fixed lenses I always would say the 50mm, followed by the 35mm. I love the limitations of the 50mm and I understand what you meant, but exactly that is the thing that devides the photographer from the “photographer”… 🙂

    1. hey Juergen !! thank you again. your visits are highly appreciated !
i still use my 50mm 1.4 – i have it all time attached to the camera body and i love the size of this lens – it feet the small Thinktank very well. i use it from time to time, but connecting more and more to 35mm just would like to have 35mm Canon body and not the Sigma Art. but i have what i have and on some level of mind the gear is not too much important but the places and the moments in front of camera.
thank you again ! always happy to read your feedbacks !
