do not delete your pictures

Deleting is fast, almost immediate. As usual people delete a bigger part of their shooted stuff because of different reasons. Not opened cap of lens, wrong setting of the camera, not working composition, missed moment or just lack of space on the memory card. No one of these reasons may be good enough to justify the erasing, may by only the first one, but if one love to look on the “Kasimir Malevich’s Black Square” so deleting of the black rectangles is also kind of crime.

Revisiting of the old photos may be absolutely surprising. Forgotten scenes and moments, popping here and there strange and foreign people or just persons not related to the moment. These persons and unseen details can bring definitely different mood to the ordinary events. I found a few in my archives.

  1. VIktor, I have photos from over a decade ago taken on a less-than-wonderful camera with no learned skills of photography, but nonetheless many of them our my favorites. Now, with the availability of post-processing, I have been able to take so many of these and turn them into photos that I am proud to share! And many of the quirky photos I have taken have turned into something special too. Yours is a great lesson!

    1. Hi ! i don’t talk about quality of the old work and new skills in editing ..
i talk about the moments. sometimes immediately after photo sessions (walks, events) our brain is still connected to the happening and can’t evaluate adequately. so, after some time possible with the fresh sign to find very interesting moments !

  2. Very true, I can only confirm this, some pictures should be allowed to rest and we have to look at them after some time

  3. I agree, many photos that I did not like at first, after a while I see them with quite different eyes.
Great work Victor, I like your photos 🙂

    1. Right Lilian. Often i let to relax to my eyes and brain and to disconnect from the moment. It works all the time 😉 thank you

  4. How true – especially digital……
I have some negatives from 30 to 40 years ago that would just not print well: I did not discard & am so pleased because now with Photoshop I can bring them to life in a way never possible in the darkroom.
One of the problems with digital images is that many people just delete so much. In future generations there with be no social history from visual content – unlike negatives that get boxed up & forgotten.
Looking at images from 100 years ago; will we be able to do that in the next hundred ?

    David.
